An adult autism assessment is a process of understanding whether long-standing patterns in how you think, feel, and relate to the world may fall on the autism spectrum, or simply making sense of your cognitive and emotional style in a more precise way.

The approach is both structured and experiential. In addition to using validated screening measures, it places strong emphasis on the clinical interview, exploring developmental history, sensory experience, relational patterns, and areas of deep interest. Rather than relying only on checklists, the aim is to understand how you experience and organize the world from the inside.

This kind of process is especially relevant for adults whose presentation may be more subtle or shaped by masking over time, including many women and individuals who may not have been recognized earlier in life.

The goal of the assessment is not simply to determine whether a diagnosis fits, but to develop a clearer, more grounded understanding of your patterns, so that whatever the outcome, it can be meaningful and useful moving forward.
